About Me

Christopher Cooper is a Nashville based theatre artist who is passionate about advocacy, arts education, and new play development. In the spring of 2024, he graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Theatre and a minor in Writing. During his tenure at MTSU, Christopher explored a wide array of theatrical avenues, all of which have contributed to his goal of being a storyteller who enacts change in the world.

As an actor, Christopher has been seen on many local stages. Selected acting credits include: Our Town (Nashville Repertory Theatre), You’re Still Here and Quaranteened (The Theater Bug), Fun Home and Sweeney Todd (MTSU), and Peter and the Starcatcher (Source One Five). In 2018, he had the great privilege of performing Mozart’s Requiem at Carnegie Hall with the Centennial Chamber Choir. He was also recognized as one of the 2024 First Night Honors’ “Most Promising Actors”.

With a passion for developing and telling new stories, Christopher has had the great privilege of collaborating on many new play development opportunities. As a playwright, Christopher has developed many new stories of his own. His ten-minute play Eclipse was presented as a virtual staged reading in the spring of 2021 with The Theater Bug and Nashville Repertory Theatre. His first full-length play, Falling, was presented as a staged reading at MTSU and received a 2023 URECA Grant. The following semester, he received a Gold level URECA Grant to produce a workshop production of his play Half Massed. He has had the honor of working developing other new plays in other roles. Selected development processes include: Dipti Bramhandkar’s The Ruminants (dramaturg), Lori Fischer’s On the Brink of Promise (stage manager), and Jennifer Faletto’s The Second Steve (director). Christopher is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild of America.

Christopher believes it to be the artist’s duty to give voices to those who do not have one. In all of his art, he vows to represent inclusion, equality, diversity, and acceptance. When we allow someone to feel seen, the world becomes a clearer, more empathetic space - There is nothing more beautiful than that.
